Our Patron

Mrs Janet Holmes a Court

I, like over 400,000 Western Australians each year, have been treated at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital.

In my case, it was as a result of an accident, and I was fortunate enough not to have a prolonged stay, but even my brief visit gave me the opportunity to observe the dedication and professionalism of the staff.

When I was approached to become a Patron of Charlies Foundation for Research, it was explained to me that the research projects funded by the Foundation are designed to help the doctors, nurses and allied health professionals working at ‘Charlies’ to do their job better, and improve the treatment and outcomes of the hundreds of thousands of patients they see every year.

While all medical research is important, it is the emphasis on combining the research with a direct focus on the clinical application that captivated me. Simply put, a donation to the Foundation is money given to make the treatment of each patient that little bit better…. and any one of us could be that patient.
